Pitiri Catering Service

Since he was a little kid, with barely 7 years of age, the passion for the kitchen started interesting him. It was inspired by his maternal grandmother, owner of the the Restaurant "La Fogata", he was seen running up and down the kitchen, learning thus to devise the rich tarts and other diverse dishes that made his grandmother famous, not leaving out the mentioning of it's mother and Mrs. Andrea Schery, who also inspired him in the bakery, when he observed them work.

Time ran and his inclination for the culinary art was at this point guaranteed. Mrs. Guillermina de Henríquez, Second Director of the school where he was studying during 7th grade, observed the dexterity and ability of the young man, so she motivated the purchase of his first culinary encyclopedia, which included 5 books. It was the first step, for what today becomes an extensive library relating to all types of cooks and the art of "Fine Eating".

His first experiences where on field trips he did to the beach and amongst meetings with friends, where the delight was to cook for them and to enjoy a good dish.

In 1978 near his residence the doors to Repostería Juan Carlos opened, which then became a recognized restaurant of Spanish food where Carlos and Leda, the owners gave Pitiri the opportunity to work with them during his free time. Then he proceeded to work at "Hotel Santo Domingo Sheraton" located in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he worked in the kitchen under the supervision of the master chef Bernard Gunther and his assistants chef Juan Genao and Pedro Núñez which taught Pitiri with a lot of dedication to prepare the most exquisite dishes of the classical and international kitchen.

While he finished high school in 1980 he had already a very prosperous food business: a hamburger cart, called “The Fogatita”, evoking the name that inspired its career, which was converted quickly in a place of gathering for young people.

In 1983 Pitiri left the country to study Culinary Arts in the United States returning at the end of 1986 graduated in the prestigious school of Culinary Art of the University of Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. After a few days he arrived, he was hired as Sous Chef of "Casa de Campo" La Romana.

Two years later the doors to "Restaurante Pitiri" opened in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where people could go enjoy the best culinary dishes ever made in Santo Domingo. Pitiri also offered the elaboration of banquet services for different events, he also taught some basic courses on culinary kitchen, table servings and banquets in the school of Hoteleria of the Latin American University, UNIBE, being it's Restaurant Pitiri, the conformation for those matters and materials. He also worked as the Director of the "Food and Beverages" department in "Santo Domingo Country Club".

The Restaurant Pitiri was an all success and harmonious business regarding the times Santo Domingo was going through. In the middle of 1993 Restaurant Pitiri closed it's doors to give way to a restaurant in same place but different concept. While the restructuring of the place was done, a period a little over 7 months, the restless and active Chef Pitiri worked as a Manager of Food and Beverages of the Hotel Bay Side Hill in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

In March of 1994 “Pitiri” opened, along with his brothers, the doors of his new Restaurant “Lori’s Steak House”, causing an impact that to the date, everybody recalls and yearn for, being the precursor of the establishments specialized in the preparation of meats imported from USA. This restaurant as was Pitiri, was very successful.

In 1999 Pitiri dedicates himself to work again in the hotel environment, being hired for the launch of the new facilities of Banquets and Restaurant "Bogavante" in "Coral Costa Caribe" Hotel in the beautiful beaches of Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic. In November 2001 the "Food and Beverage" area of the "Cap Cana" in the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic opened up. In 2003 he takes up the position of "Director of Banquets", catering services, anniversaries and prestigious special events in "Casa de Campo" Resort. At the end of 2003, he returns again to the "Cap Cana Proyect" where he remained until 2004.

Currently Pitiri's business is dedicated to offer catering services in Villa's, private jets and private yachts in "La Romana" Dominican Republic.
